For obvious reasons, and with some justification, the supporters of the tea party movement that has so energized the recent political landscape in America seek to enlist the Founding Fathers as fervent champions of their cause.
Editorial: Secretary of state's office protects voters
For months, until an agreement was reached recently with the federal Department of Justice approving a voter registration protocol from the Georgia secretary of state's office requiring first-time registrants to provide proof of citizenship, this newspaper's editorial board was consistently critical of that protocol. The board argued that the method by which citizenship was verified, which involved the comparison of voter registration information with information contained in other government databases, kept any number of legitimate citizens from registering.
Tea party proving its doubters wrong
LOS ANGELES - Doubters who thought the tea party would fade away can forget it. More than 70 of its favored candidates are on Nov. 2 ballots, and nearly three dozen are locked in competitive House races, according to a state-by-state analysis by The Associated Press.
